Eyebrow Gel DIY Recipe with Rosemary & Lavender – Dr. Axe – Telegraph
Have you ever heard of eyebrow gel or eyebrow pomade? Yes, there is gel for the eyebrows! It’s purpose is to keep the hairs of the eyebrows in place. You can even get tinted eyebrow gel to further define the eyebrows all in one step. Avoiding that disheveled eyebrow look is a good thing. Additionally, avoiding the chemical-based products that you find on the shelf is even more important since those chemicals can seep into the skin. (1)
Your next question may be, how do you use eyebrow gel? The idea is to hold and define the hairs of the eyebrows so that they are neatly groomed — almost like hair spray does for the hair. And, if you have thick eyebrows, eyebrow gel is pretty much a must-have in your makeup bag. For some, eyebrow gel is all you may need, but it works well on top of my DIY eyebrow dye, too. Regardless, it can help define the brows, while keeping them neatly in place.
First, simply comb the eyebrow hairs into the shape you desire. Using a clean mascara wand or small angle brush, apply the eyebrow gel. Brush the the inside thicker area upwards. Then brush the arches up and out towards the outside edge. This provides a nice, natural shape for the brows.
Now that you know how to use eyebrow gel, let’s jump into making your own right at home.

Depending on the color you need, you will want to consider the tint ingredient — namely, activated charcoal for black, cocoa powder for brown, beet powder for a red tint and ginger powder for a pale, creamy look. However, if you just want a clear eyebrow gel, simply skip this step.
For a tinted gel, place a few sprinkles of the tint ingredients you prefer in a small bowl, adding more throughout the process to get the desired color. You can mix and match too! For example, if you want a dark brown tint, consider mixing a little charcoal with cocoa powder. Add the aloe vera gel. You may be wondering — is aloe vera good for the eyebrows? The answer is yes! Aloe vera is a healthy way to get a controlled shape while providing skin-healing properties. It also benefits the eyebrow hairs. It contains vitamins A, C and E, which are all great for healthy skin and hair.
Next, add the rosemary and lavender essential oils. Rosemary does more than provide delicious flavor to food; it has long been known to enhance hair growth, which means it just may help thicken those brows.
Lavender is simply great for the skin since it is very healing and helps reduce acne. Additionally, you get the bonus of a little aromatherapy by inhaling the scent!
Now, make sure you have blended your ingredients. At this point, you can determine if you need to lighten or thicken the mixture. While arrowroot is known to help boost immunity and soothe the digestive system, arrowroot powder is perfect for making your eyebrow gel just the right color and consistency. Add a few sprinkles until you reach the desired thickness and color.
Once you have achieved the perfect color, you can transfer the mixture to a small, clean container.
